College Essay Writing Project
Colleges I’m Applying To and Future Plans:
Northern Arizona University
University of Utah
Colorado Mesa University
Dixie State University
Western Colorado Community College
The community college at the end is there because I’m not sure I want to go to regular college after high school. I’d like to learn different trades that I could use to get a job and put myself through college at a later date if I still wanted to go.

Reflection:
It's difficult to be specific on how I grew as a writer between my first and final drafts while writing my college essay. That's because my final draft is a completely different essay than the one I wrote originally. What I can speak about are the reasons I rewrote it and what I learned about myself while doing that. Originally, my essay was fairly negative and didn't even answer the question that my prompt was asking. The prompt, "What is college for?" was interesting and that's why I chose it, but I ended up writing something more along the lines of "Is college worth it to me and should I go?" The critiques I got from my peers were things like "it isn't consistent", "it flows odd", or "it contradicts itself". These were all things I could fix, but then I went and showed it to my teacher, Lori, and she told me it didn't answer the prompt. I then began a new essay. In the new essay, I answer the prompt with the plain simple answers and it's positive.
I just tried something more basic and I answered the question instead of overthinking the prompt and answering a different question altogether.
