This Year in a Picture
Transitional Presentation of Learning
-Personal Connections and Adult World Connections:
1. Which project did you have the most personal connection with this year? Why?
The project that I had the most personal connection with this year was the socialization essay. It really showed me how I’ve turned out the way I have, but I haven’t found everything out yet.
Evidence - Socialization Essay
2. What have you learned (skill, lesson, or knowledge) this year that will be most helpful for you in the future?
I think that I have learned to work better in groups and how to use my ideas to their full potential. Using what I think will be the best to present for my projects.
Evidence - TPOL prep
3. What project or projects have you done this year that have inspired you to want to learn more? Explain how you were inspired.
The socialization project has shown me that there are a lot of things wrong with our society that need to be fixed. We learned about women not being equal and how men aren’t supposed to cry - just to name a few. I want to break down those stereotypes. In fact, a song I feel relates to this is Society by Eddie Vedder. It talks about how we are not like we should be.
Evidence - Socialization Essay
4. How has your attitude toward learning changed this year?
My attitude towards learning has changed for the better, I think. I don’t stress as much as I did at the beginning of the year which has made learning definitely a lot easier.
Evidence - This year
5. What connections have you made this year between what you have learned in your classes and your own personal experiences outside of school?
I keep going back to socialization, but it has effected me inside and outside of school. I am always thinking about why humans do certain things when I see them doing that thing… I know, confusing.
Evidence - Socialization Essay
6. How have your learning and experiences at AHS this year changed the way you see the world?
I definitely see things differently, I can’t connect it back to a certain piece of evidence, but I could say that I see places that I could use photoshop a lot. I see a location in the mountains, like if the sun was setting, and I take a picture of it. I could make it look even better with photoshop.
Evidence - Photoshop
7. What work from this year would you like to look back on and remember when you are a graduating senior?
The Model UN resolutions. Even though they weren’t the best resolutions written in the class, they still made an impact on me because it felt like I was helping in a very small way. Creating resolutions to much larger problems.
Evidence - Resolutions
1. What is the most important change that you have made as a learner this year?
The most important change that I have made as a learner this year was realizing that it’s best not to think about it very much. I mean, don’t completely ignore everything, but don’t over think your projects. The more you think about it, the more you stress. Take this TPOL for example, the more I think about it, the more I stress. I’m stressing right now.
Evidence - TPOL
2. How have you taken an active role in your education this year?
I have taken an active role in my education by constantly trying to keep my grades up. I’ve worked my hardest, more so in Algebra, by always making sure my POWs (problems of the week) have everything they need to get the highest grade.
Evidence - POWs

4. If you could go back and refine one piece of work this year, what piece of work would you refine and how would you refine it?
If I could go back and refine one piece of work this year, it would be my happiness art piece. It was a board that I glued pictures too. That’s basically it. I wish I could have done something like Rollin (phoenix) or Will (dragon). I would have done something really creative.
Evidence - Happiness Art
5. If you were the teacher, what comments would your teacher make about your work habits?
I’m a deep thinker and witty.
Evidence - Lauren
6. What might you want next year’s teacher to know about your work habits?
I think I would want next years teachers to know that I start off my projects a little slow, mainly trying to figure out what to do. Basically a slow start.
Evidence - Happiness Project
7. What is the most difficult thing you have done this year? Why was it difficult, and how did you deal with that difficulty?
