Why I chose Animas

I chose Animas because it was the perfect choice. I am a very hands on learner. Before Animas, I went to Mountain Middle School. Mountain was based off of Animas and another high school in San Diego. Going to Mountain, we learned about project based learning which Animas uses a lot. I chose Animas because I loved learning with project based learning. Before MMS, I went to a public elementary school that didn’t use project based learning. While it was the best elementary school in Durango, it can’t compare to MMS and AHS. Besides previous learning environments, the AHS culture is that of a big family. It is very accepting and loving. I feel a lot better at this school than any other school. This school pushes me academically because of the higher grade standards and the fact that if you fail even one of your classes, you will be kicked out of your X-Block and/or Exploratories. The best part of this school is definitely the teacher-student relationships. At MMS we had this relationship and it was great there as well. It allows the student to converse with the teacher on a friend level and have the teacher help the student on a one on one basis. Animas was obviously the right choice.
